For the More Intellectually Minded

I came across a 15 minute Youtube video that really shook my mind. We hear so much about The United Nations and the only reason “Israel stole the land was because of the western influence in the UN”. This video totally blows that idea out of the water! It’s a bit “informational” but very worthy of a 15 minute view. It covers “WHO WILL GET WHAT”- No one is left out, IS ISRAEL LEGAL?” – Or just a whim of British policy,  What does it mean to recognize a “PREEXISTING RIGHT?”, and “WHY ARE THERE 21 ARAB STATES AND 1 JEWISH STATE?” Go to "CHECK THESE OUT " and click  "Give Peace A Chance".  Please let me know what you think.

I THOUGHT THIS ARTICLE IS A GREAT WAY TO CELEBRATE A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR!

Would Jesus support a Palestinian state?

In a recent blog post for CNN, Middle East expert and evangelical Christian, Carl Medearis, wrote a piece arguing that Jesus would support a Palestinian state.
I've met Carl on a couple of occasions. Carl is an amazing storyteller, a nice guy, and he truly loves Muslims. But his theology is utterly abysmal. And, even worse, his pro-Palestine position stands in direct conflict with the principles of justice, truth, love and righteousness.
The gist of Carl's argument, and one I suspect is shared by many American evangelicals, is that Christians should discard the Bible, discard their eschatology and support a Palestinian state simply because it is the right thing to do. Carl warns against, "allowing obscure Old Testament promises to dictate our foreign policy." Instead we should simply focus on, "love, compassion, justice and peace-making."
The glaring problem with Carl's argument is that it assumes that those "obscure Old Testament promises" are in conflict with the principles of "love, compassion and justice." Carl could not be more wrong. Not only does Carl's position require him to discard numerous very clear passages from the Bible (would Jesus reject these sections of the Bible?), but it also runs rough shod over the principles of love, justice and compassion.
For the sake of argument, let's take Carl's approach. Let's forget the Bible entirely. Let's just examine the conflict based upon an objective assessment of the reality on the ground. Let's also begin by acknowledging that whether Jew or Arab, it doesn't matter; God loves them all.
First, let's ask: Which side truly desires peace? This question is a no-brainer. According to the Pew Research Center, in a poll conducted between March 21 and April 26 of 2011, 78 percent of Palestinians support suicide bombing to kill Jews. Of those polled, only 19 percent said they would never support suicide bombing. But Carl says, "The good news is that extremists are a minority on both sides of the conflict." Seventy-eight percent is no minority, Carl; it is an overwhelming vast majority. As a person who claims to desire justice, peace and love, let this fact sink into your head: Roughly eight out of 10 Palestinians believe that is acceptable to use suicide bombing to kill Jews – simply because they are Jews. Truth and justice demand that we begin by acknowledging the dark reality the Jewish people are contending with.
What about the present Palestinian leadership? Could they, despite the systemic murderous racism so prevalent among the majority of their people, still establish a just peace? Let's consider the words of President of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas. In his anti-Semitic work, "The Secret Relationship Between Nazism and Zionism," Abbas argues that the Holocaust of more than six million Jews is a dramatically exaggerated "myth." Instead, Abbas claims, the real number is probably closer to "only a few hundred thousand." Elsewhere in his book, Abbas mentions his position concerning the nation of Israel:
"A Jewish state, what is that supposed to mean? You can call yourselves as you like, but I don't accept it and I say so publicly."
How can the Israelis live peacefully with such a man?

Far more recently, on July 29, 2010, Abbas also stated,
"I will never allow a single Israeli to live among us on Palestinian land."
How can the Israelis negotiate peace with such a vile and disgusting racist?
But Abbas is not the only leader of the Palestinian people. There is also the leadership of Hamas. Let's consider a few recent statements.
Mahmoud Zahar, a senior Hamas official, said Hamas will accept the idea of two states, but will not recognize Israel, because doing so would "cancel the right of the next generations to liberate the lands."
Yunis Al-Astal Hamas MP and cleric on Al-Aqsa TV, May 11, 2011, stated the following:
The Jews are brought in droves to Palestine so that the Palestinians – and the Islamic nation behind them – will have the honor of annihilating the evil of this gang. … All the predators, all the birds of prey, all the dangerous reptiles and insects, and all the lethal bacteria are far less dangerous than the Jews. … In just a few years, all the Zionists and the settlers will realize that their arrival in Palestine was for the purpose of the great massacre, by means of which Allah wants to relieve humanity of their evil. … When Palestine is liberated and its people return to it, and the entire region, with the grace of Allah, will have turned into the United States of Islam, the land of Palestine will become the capital of the Islamic Caliphate. …
Once again, I ask, how can the Israelis live in peace with such evil?
Now let's consider a few brief sections of the official charter of Hamas.
"... the Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah's promise whatever time it might take. The prophet ... said: The Day of Judgment will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!"
"There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by jihad. The initiatives, proposals and international conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility."
"Jihad is a duty binding on all Muslims. … We have no escape from raising the banner of jihad. "I swear by that who holds in His Hands the Soul of Muhammad! I indeed wish to go to war for the sake of Allah! I will assault and kill, assault and kill, assault and kill."
This material is far from loving, just, compassionate or peaceful, wouldn't you agree, Carl? What if these people were your neighbors? And what if they were talking about murdering your children? When you support the establishment of a Palestinian state, this is exactly the type of demonic, murderous rubbish that you're getting behind.
But you will never hear this information discussed by pro-Palestinian propagandists like Carl Medearis. Instead, he devotes the majority of his article to demagoguing and attacking Christians simply for supporting Israel's right to defend itself:
When it comes to Israel and her neighbors, many Christian Zionists believe that peacemaking is the devil's work. … But Christian Zionism blesses military action by the modern state of Israel, under the banner of "national security."
Let's talk about justice. Do Palestinian children suffer because of the conflict? Of course they do. Does God's heart burn for the Palestinian child as much as the Jewish child? Of course it does! But to place the blame of this injustice at the feet of the Israeli people and the Christians who support them is both anti-Semitic and just plain asinine.
Palestinian children suffer because the Palestinian leaders continue to propagate the Islamic traditions that foment an anti-Semitic murderous racism among its people. And the people refuse to reject it. Repentance must come before peace can even be considered! While this saying may be overplayed, the simple fact of the matter is that the Palestinian child will have peace when the Palestinian people learn how to love their own children more than they hate the Jewish people.
I am a Christian, and I support the right of the Israelis to live in their ancient homeland. I also support their right to defend themselves. But one need not look to the Bible to support this position. I am a Christian Zionist, not simply because of "obscure Old Testament promises," thank you, but because it is the only just, right, compassionate and loving position to take.

LEAVE HOME?

Recently, I was talking with a couple who are dear friends of mine from Iran.  Over 25 years ago, they had left Islam and had become Christians. Their house church in Iran had been raided and several people were taken to prison and executed.  Their pastor was eventually tortured and killed. They had escaped Iran with very little and traveled many nations without proper papers and Identity cards. They were telling me that the Christians who are imprisoned now and later released live very difficult lives. Some of them disappear in a year or two and are killed and others escape the country like they did, without any ID card. If they go to Turkey, the Turkish government is no longer helpful and they run the risk of being sent back. My heart really broke for these people. As Americans, most of us have no idea what it is like to be forced to leave our homes, our families, our cultures with nothing but a few valuables. I have lived in different countries, but I always knew eventually I would return home and I would be welcomed back.

This made me wonder about the Jewish people before the nation of Israel was established again. I knew a little history, like they were kicked out of Spain in 1492, and forced to leave Iran, Iraq, Yeman and Arabia in 1948. I wanted to find out if there were other cities and nations that told the Jewish people they had to leave. This is what I found:

WHAT ABOUT THE USA?

On December 17, 1862, General Ulysses Grant wrote to the Assistant Adjutant General of the US Army:

"I have long since believed that in spite of all the vigilance that can be infused into post commanders, the specie regulations of the Treasury Department have been violated, and that mostly by the Jews and other unprincipled traders. So well satisfied have I been of this that I instructed the commanding officer at Columbus to refuse all permits to Jews to come South, and I have frequently had them expelled from the department. But they come in with their carpet-sacks in spite of all that can be done to prevent it. The Jews seem to be a privileged class that can travel anywhere. They will land at any wood yard on the river and make their way through the country. If not permitted to buy cotton themselves, they will act as agents for someone else, who will be at a military post with a Treasury permit to receive cotton and pay for it in Treasury notes which the Jew will buy at an agreed rate, paying gold."

Also, on December 17, 1862, General Ulysses S. Grant issued General Orders No. 11. This order banished all Jews from Tennessee's western military.

General Orders No. 11 declared: "1. The Jews, as a class, violating every regulation of trade established by the Treasury Department, are hereby expelled from the Department.

Within 24 hours from the receipt of this order by Post Commanders, they will see that all of this class of people are furnished with passes required to leave, and anyone returning after such notification, will be arrested and held in confinement until an opportunity occurs of sending them out as prisoners, unless furnished with permits from these headquarters.

No permits will be given these people to visit headquarters for the purpose of making personal application for trade permits.

ENGLAND?

….ok, so Ethiopia is not a well known destination for holiday travelers. Maybe it’s just a coincidence that the nation cut ties with Israel and today has one of the lowest per capita incomes in the world?

As I am meditating on this, the united kingdom comes to mind…..ah ha! Am I on to something?

By 1922 the British Empire influenced 458 million people and covered almost ¼ of the earth’s land area!

It had great effect on the politics, economies, languages and cultures of a good chunk of the world.

It was said, “THE SUN NEVER SETS ON THE BRITISH EMPIRE”.

In 1917, Lord Balfour, the British Foreign Secretary, wrote a letter quoting a decision made in a British Cabinet meeting. This paper is known as “The Balfour Declaration”.

It states that His majesty’s government views with favor the establishment of a national homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine.

The British government will do their best to facilitate this goal understanding that the religious and civil liberties of non Jewish communities in Palestine would not be taken away.

In 1939, Great Britain reneged on the Balfour Declaration by issuing “The White Paper” which stated that creating a Jewish State would no longer be a British Policy.

This was the year Germany invaded Poland and “The White Paper” prevented millions of Jews from fleeing to Palestine and escaping death in Nazi Germany.

It also dragged Great Britain into WW II .

So did this affect Great Britain? Today, is it still said,  “THE SUN NEVER SETS ON  THE BRITISH EMPIRE?”

Why did everything change?

ETHIOPIA?

I started asking myself, “why would it be so important? Israel is a tiny nation. What’s the big deal? Why are they always in the news?

Why does the U.N. always seem against them?”

My investigative mind took over.

Here in Washington, D.C. we are very connected with the Ethiopian community. They are a great group of people and have a very rich culture which many Washingtonians and tourists can enjoy. Ethiopia is the oldest independent country in Africa and one of the oldest in the world. Although the Italians occupied the nation, Ethiopia was never colonized and has maintained a very rich culture. In 1941, Haile Selassie, the Emperor of Ethiopia returned from exile to lead the country. He developed diplomatic relations with Israel, and the situation for Ethiopian jews improved. Around the time of the Yom Kippur War in 1973, many African nations severed their diplomatic ties with Israel, and Haile Selassie was feeling pressure to do the same. He planned to veto an attempt by his government to end relations with Israel, but was forced to withdraw his veto. On October 23, 1973 Ethiopia severed its ties with Israel. Months later, a Marxist, Mengistu, lead a coup and overthrew Selassie’s government. The transition from imperial rule to Marxist rule was devastating. From 1974-1991 Ethiopia suffered great losses of their people, their economy, their culture. The “Red Terror” of the Dergue executed many citizens and the land became the state’s property. The nation has experienced multiple famines and even today is suffering from food shortages due to famine. I have heard so many stories from rich and poor Ethiopians, those who came to the USA on their own and those who came through the lottery. Each one has a testimony of how their nation has suffered for almost 40 years.

Could this have anything to do with breaking relations with Israel?
